CATALYTIC CONVERTER SYSTEM

Back in September 2020 we teamed up with Classicfabs, designers, engineers and manufacturers of beautiful exhaust manifolds based in Fort William, who were at the testing stage with their new Catalytic Converter Systems designed specifically for classic cars in the hope that the levels of emissions produced by historic cars could be reduced, resulting in cleaner air.  Angus' personal car, a completely original 1966 Series 1 FHC which was restored by Angus alongside our head technician Murray, was used as the test subject for measuring the results from the Classicfabs CAT system.  The car was taken to Taylor Automotive Engineering, high performance car product development specialists, where tests were carried out on their rolling road once the CAT's were fitted to their standard Long Manifold and two inch straight through exhaust system.  What they found was a significant reduction in the levels of Carbon Monoxide, Hydrocarbons and Nitrous Oxides.

Though not comparable to current MOT tests where only idle and raised idle are monitored, this test was carried out under load on a rolling road as the focus was more on real-world driving.
