1969 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES 2 RHD FHC
SOLD
Built late in 1969 and first registered in 1970, the JDHT certificate for this car confirms it to be an original RHD UK home model matching numbers Series 2 FHC carrying it’s original registration number.
The car was purchased in 2017 partially dismantled having been off the road since 1985. Accident free but in good condition, the car was badly in need of a ground up restoration. This meticulous restoration took 4 years and was completed 6 months ago.
Finished in Opalescent Maroon with a completely new tan interior supplied by Aldridge’s of Wolverhampton.
The body was soda blasted, and during the rebuild a number of the structural panels were replaced including both inner and outer sills, floor pans, boot floor and passenger and driver’s doors. The fuel tank and fuel pump were both replaced with brand new units.
The original engine was completely stripped and rebuilt to an uprated standard by Tim Kemp of VSE. The upgrades included tappet guide retainers, a lightened flywheel, spin off oil filter & 123 Ignition system, and the alternator has been upgraded to a self regulating arrangement. The cooling system consists of a brand new radiator, and highly uprated Revotec cooling fans powered directly from the alternator through a fused relay arrangement. A manual override switch for the fans has also been installed.
The original carburettors were fully stripped and rebuilt by Southern Carburettors, however, the original inlet manifold was beyond repair and was replaced with a NOS item.
The original transmission was completely stripped and overhauled by Wolverhampton based Klassik Transmissions, and the differential was stripped and rebuilt by well known specialist Alan Slawson of AJS engineering. The clutch was replaced by specialists Moss Jaguar which included a new clutch master and slave cylinder.
All engine bay, alternator & dashboard wiring looms have been replaced for reliability. The headlights have been upgraded to relay controlled H4 halogen units powered directly from the alternator, and
the reversing lamps have been relocated to within the rear light clusters.
Both rear brakes, and clutch hydraulics have been fitted with an easy bleed system. Adjustment of the front suspension has been simplified with the addition of fully adjustable top trunnions, and an adjustable reaction plate.
All of the original braking components were sent for overhaul to specialists Past Parts, and all of the driveline and steering universal joints were replaced, as were all of the front suspension joints. All 6 shock absorbers are also brand new.
2500 joyous miles have been driven since completion.
