Customer Feedback
It is always nice to receive feedback on our work and we have had a lot of good stuff over the preceding years so thought it was about time we shared it with our visitors. It is all genuine and, subject to the agreement of the author, we are always happy to pass on their contact details.

Having bought the car three years ago without any real knowledge of E-Types, I was lucky to have bought a basically sound LHD example from a dealer. I brought it up to Angus and liked the easy going style of dealing with customers. we planned the immediate issues that needed dealing with, plus the winter schedule to convert to RHD, change the diff ratio, and other improvements. This car was to be used and I wanted reliability above all else. I liked the fact that Angus puts regular pictures and story on the website every week so I could see what was happening even without going and looking.
One or two wobbles have occurred along the way but with Murray and Leon giving it their best, the car has never let me down. They apply a almost fanatical level of detail, way beyond my DIY capabilities.
Three years on and I decided it was time to tick off a few things on my bucket list. After four months of planning, I set off on an eight day road trip of Europe, accompanied by my eldest son.
Throughout the journey the car didn't miss a beat and performed perfectly. All in all a great testament to both the quality of the car, as well as the sterling work by Moss Jaguar. We got admiring looks everywhere we went and it was a daily requirement to open the bonnet and show people the engine.

I have now owned my E-Type for 18 years and during that time I have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly of so called E-Type specialists. I am therefore delighted to say that at last I have truly found someone who knows what they are talking about and genuinely has the customers best interests at heart.

Its 3 years since purchase and following several long sojourns in the Moss Jaguar workshop you have corrected many of the cosmetic and mechanical imperfections in my amateur reassembled car.
So last weeks visit to your impressive new spacious workshops was in a maintain and improve mindset.
The 50 mile commute home was therefore not only a timely reminder of what great cars these are even by modern day standards but also how proper maintenance is really noticeable in older cars. Previous improvements to the still standard brakes with good grip from standard 185 tyres combined with the crisper throttle response from Leons service, carb, and standard ignition set up led to me revelling in the considerable performance the E type still offers.
This confidence in the car was enhanced by the newly fitted Coolcat fan. Up till now having started with an absolutely standard car I had vowed to only enhance the specification and hence move the car away from it original driving experience when I was convinced it was really neccessary. The original 'flymo' fan has done sterling work even in hot traffic jams in limiting any temperature increase to around 10 degrees or so over normal. However the temperature took a long time to be dragged back to normal causing a sort of temperature anxiety similar to the range anxiety experienced by electric car owners. Well what a difference, after only a few degrees temperature increase the quiet smooth fan kicks in and in no time has reduced the temperature to normal and cut out. Well designed to be a bolt in replacement your normal attention to detail was exemplified by the neat concealed fitment of a relay to protect the circuit.
So thank you all at Moss Jaguar for the quality advice, the quality components and the quality work that have further enhanced my E type ownership experience.
As a PS I should not forget the speedy work replacing needles and diaphagms in all 3 carbs following the last minute discovery of a fuel leak so allowing me to pick up the car as planned

As you know, Angus, when my headlining collapsed around my head during the heat of Le Mans last year I decided it was clearly a sign that it was time to replace my tired and gloomy black interior with a bright new one in biscuit.
Having known you since I had a lot of mechanical work done in 2015, I was familiar with your encyclopaedic knowledge of E types, your integrity when dealing with customers and your constant quest for perfection ! So there was only one place to go.
Needless to say the job didn't stop with a retrim. I decided to add a pair of your special seats and while the interior was stripped it seemed a sensible time to have the majority of the wiring replaced. The engine bay particularly worried me with its wiring crispy from years of engine heat ! You also sorted a number of smaller issues without being asked, some of which had bugged me for a while.
The whole job was of course accomplished with your usual care, attention to detail and insistence that everything must be "right" before you hand the car back ! So thank you to you and your team, especially Murray who did much of the work, for another first class job. The car looks superb and is wonderful to drive. I wouldn't entrust it to anyone else.

As promised some instant feedback! Great journey home, the difference was very noticeable!
- Acceleration improved, smooth and instant
- Ride firmer (in a good way) - lot less wallow
- Steering so much more pointed and instant
- Brakes on a different level
- Oil and temp all good. Fan working well
- Drivers end of the engine no leaks
- Amp settled a bit.
Ok so that was only 30 mile (I took the long way home) but appreciate the changes.
Really appreciate the changes and the tremendous work carried by you, Leon, Barrie and Murray. Massive thank you.

I have now completed over 2000 miles in less than six weeks since you completed the full restoration of my 1969 Jaguar E Type Series 2.
I would just like to take this opportunity of thanking you and your team for the fantastic job you have all done in transforming a sad looking car into a fabulous Classic Car. Apart from a few ( very few ) small items, the car has performed well above the expectations that I had perceived the restoration would be and it has been an absolute joy to drive.
If I have one complaint it is that you have done such a good restoration, I am continually stopped by people when I park, wanting to know all about it! I will continue to use Moss Jaguar for all my Jaguar E Type servicing and I will have no hesitation in recommending your company to Jaguar E Type owners.
You and your team should be rightfully proud of your companies capabilities and I wish you all success in the future.

After a lot of research I decided that I wanted a fully restored etype that I could keep for years. I looked for a restorer that had experience of the car, a good reputation and most importantly, someone I could build a working relationship with (a valuable but often overlooked characteristic in a restorer. Angus’s knowledge of the E type is legendary; I managed to view several cars he had restored and worked on and spent a considerable time talking to him before signing on the dotted line. An important consideration was the fact that Angus and I shared the same view of the car; ie that it was very good in standard spec, but with some subtle modifications it could become meet the modern demands of an everyday or touring car.
Very importantly, Angus is a perfectionist and did not cut corners on the restoration. The car went through a full nut and bolt rebuild; most components are standard or original specification with subtle upgrades. Throughout the restoration Angus and the team at E Conic kept me briefed on progress and supplied loads of photos. Whenever I inspected the car, I was impressed by the quality of work that Angus and his team have produced. After 18 months of regularly driving the car I am still impressed with it, the quality of the work and the after sales service. As you would expect with any nut and bolt rebuild there are always a few minor issues…when these cropped up the team sorted them out quickly and without any fuss.
Today, Angus and I regularly chat, the car continues to be serviced by the team at E conic and I would heartily recommend them if you are seriously interested in restoring an E type.

I have snipped this out from an article sent to us by GW (S1 FHC 4.2). He bought a fully restored car and we carried out a lot of work subsequently (setting the car up etc)....
"......Despite my preference to keep the original flymo fan, Angus’ work ensured temperatures were kept under control in the 1 hour plus queue to get out of the car parks (Goodwood Revival Meeting) and the weekend was completed with a quick trip to Southampton so the original restorer could see the car for the first time since 1992 and the next day a surprisingly quick A3/M25/M11 return to Suffolk.
So we have learnt that a well set up E type (thank you the team at MossJaguar) is practical, comfortable, can more than live with modern traffic, still attracts admiring glances and comments from young and old alike and allowed this car nut a weekend to remember and built the confidence to start planning even longer trips next year."

Buying an E-Type through Angus and having him and his team restore it has been an incredibly rewarding process. Angus sourced the car for me in the States and undertook a full restoration from a bare metal respray and engine rebuild, through right hand drive conversion and re-trimming. Virtually every part of the car has been cleaned, repaired, restored or as a last resort replaced. The car has been transformed from something edging towards the end of its usability to being given a new lease of life which should see it being driven for many years to come.
I have viewed the process as a partnership, which may seem naive but to an extent I feel it was essential as the project has evolved, decisions made and issues uncovered, which has to be expected with restoring a 50 year old car. I have relied heavily on Angus’s knowledge and suggestions of what will enable the finished restoration to be readily usable but still retain all the classic features of this iconic car. It won’t be for everyone but having a car that reliably starts, is in a colour that wasn’t readily available in the year of production and modern stereo behind a classic facia, makes this project all the more rewarding and enjoyable in use.
The car now gets admiring looks and complimentary comments on each outing, something for which Angus, Leon and Murray must take great credit.

White Series 1 3.8 Drophead – A Restoration Story
In 2014 I decided to buy a restored E-Type. The “big name” restorers had increased their prices to unaffordable levels so I looked elsewhere. I found an advert for a fantastic looking restored 3.8 drophead online. Angus had been recommended for expert E-Type inspection services so I called him. I emailed the advert, including c.40 photos. He talked me through each photo, highlighting problems in most of them that only an expert would see ranging from incorrect screws and washers, to a subtly “altered” engine number. We didn’t bother going to see that car.
Our talk turned to restoration (I was vaguely aware that Angus did them). I decided this was the best route to getting the “right” car within budget. I was prepared to wait. I visited Angus’ workshop (much smaller then than now) and inspected 2 completed E’s and another in mid-restoration. I was very impressed. Angus is a perfectionist, and has a passion for restoring original parts wherever possible (including a rather unhealthy obsession with correct screws and washers). For me, he was the right sort of perfectionist, one who would produce an original spec car with at least the same integrity as the big-name restorers (a car can’t be better than perfect), but more reasonably priced. I filed my order.
Our agreed restoration philosophy was to produce a factory standard car with only easily reversible modifications for reliability and safety (with the unused original parts restored and in a box in my garage). Angus sourced a car – a complete, original and rot free matching numbers Series 1 3.8 ’64 drophead that had been standing in a Californian garage for a number of years. Other than not being my favourite colour (gun metal, which it now is) it was a perfect restoration car.
I made regular visits during the restoration, and there were regular calls from Angus - decisions had to be made at each stage as the car gave up its secrets. Angus’s blog, with regular photo updates, was a plus too. Nothing is simple with an E-Type as they were largely hand-built, the factory improvised, and the parts bin changed from month to month. If your restorer isn’t blessed with years of experience then they’re not going to end up in the right place.
The first year was slow-going when the car was dis-assembled, parts rebuilt and refurbished and the body restored (always the biggest job with an E-Type). It took several months for it to be perfected to better-than-new standard before painting. But patience was rewarded when the perfect body finally emerged from the bodyshop. The car was then slowly reassembled – Angus wasn’t going to be rushed by an impatient customer. With Angus the only way is perfect.
When the car arrived I needed to put 500 low rpm miles on the clock for the rebuilt engine, gearbox and other components to be run in. The diff (a new item) made a loud whining noise above 50 mph. Angus replaced it under warranty, no questions asked.
The car is a joy. I use it regularly. People react to an E-Type in the same way they to a Spitfire or Concord, say, so it always draws a crowd. I’ve attended E-Type club, Goodwood Members, Goodwood Revival and small local classic car meetings and the car is pored over by knowledgeable and unknowledgeable enthusiasts. Some try to find fault but – beyond the reversible modifications that I chose – no one has yet. I’ve not seen another that is better. On paper I would do well to sell the car, but the thought hasn’t crossed my mind. I’m too busy enjoying it.
